I’ve gone for more rhyming prompts today, because I enjoy writing amusing nonsense and watching it be made into something that makes sense. Sometimes the pictures don’t match the prompt but the process is worthwhile and I enjoy it very much:
Hideous Harold was nobodies’ friend, he drove all his neighbours right round the bend, his hygiene was awful, he smelled of old dung, he got beat with the ugly stick, when he was young
Oh, my goodness, gracious me, it must be time for a cup of tea, we’ve hustled and bustled, both thither and back and tussled and toiled with barely a snack, oh my good gracious, deary me, please bring us all a nice cup of tea
Huffing and puffing he struggled to stop, he just kept on going after reaching the top, his long legs kept moving, he still wasn’t done, he ran through the clouds and then he was gone
Innocence purity whiter than white, clean without blemish refined clarified, guiltless unsullied gentle contrite, a perfect and beautiful bride for the Christ
Maladroit Noddy, all head and no body, had buckteeth and carrots for fingers, his sausage shaped legs, made the dogs sit and beg, as they thought poor old Noddy was dinner
I decided to write some rhyming prompts. As with yesterdays prompts I wanted to be vague about the kind of image that I wanted and the results are better than I hoped for:
Prompt: Mournful and awful and somber and blue, an arrogant, ignorant brute, he sways, and he stumbles and mumbles and grumbles and pulls up the trees by their roots
This next one took me by surprise, I hadn’t visualized anything like this;
Prompt: Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, the heart decides on what it will, though a rich man can caress what’s on the outside, he can’t lay a hand on what’s within
I’m not sure what I expected from the next one but I really liked the outcome:
Prompt: For good or for evil, for better or worse, with every decision we make, closer to light or nearer to dark, we each of us choose our own fate
I really like that the AI will make images according to the amount of effort that’s put into the text. I am starting to feel that I have a part to play in the image making process.
Prompt: Subtlety and grace, fine linen and lace, she carries the scent of a rose, she arrives with the mist, she departs with a kiss and where she goes nobody knows
The next prompt I wrote was just a bit of fun but the images are great:
Prompt: Old father time has a watch just like mine, it tick tocks all day and all night, it looks just like mine and they both tell the time, but father times watch is divine
My fast GPU time was refreshed this morning, so it has now been a complete month that I’ve been whispering, and sometimes speaking quite loudly at the AI.
If you give the AI room to interpret a prompt, rather than overloading it with specifics, it will give you some awesome stuff. I decided to focus on the language itself, rather than on details and I am very pleased with what I got:
Prompt: I dreamed a thousand dreams at least, in every one I killed a beast, I fought with sword and axe and rod, and I triumphed everywhere I trod, because in each, behind me stood my God
Prompt: Through the varieties of all the miseries he had faced, as punishment for the wickedness he had practised, he had become a mere brute, a savage creature with an appetite for cruelty
Prompt: Directing the invisible power toward his present suffering, through the medium of touch, ending the present affliction of his circumstances, mightily rebuking the miseries of death
Prompt: Something miraculous, nothing more terrible in its nature than this, or truer to its lord, had been seen by human eyes, nor could it be stopped by humankind, behold, a servant of the Almighty
This was a bit more specific;
Prompt: She had become the very personification of nature, her limbs were now made from tree branches and flowers, intertwined with foliage and blossom. She strode mightily through the water of the lake
I liked almost everything that I got this morning so I will be continuing with this type of prompt for at least a while. Here’s a fat cat;
Sometimes Midjourney responds very well to a short paragraph, written as a story, though I rarely get what I anticipate:
A cat in a hat with blue boots, carrying a sword and grinning as he walks confidently towards a mouse, who is armed with a rusty musket
I have both the mouse and the cat, but in separate images
Sometimes the result is nothing like what I intended:
It was as though every man had a bubble in which his head was encapsulated, each saw a different world to the other, in one the sky was orange, in another it was yellow but each and every one of them called it blue
Other times it will just ignore parts of the prompt entirely;
The moon shone its light through the window, bathing her in its brightness, her skin was luminescent and irresistible to the foul, filthy creature which crouched at the foot of the bed
But I’ll almost always get at least one image that makes the prompt worthwhile:
The fairy had checked under the pillow for the tooth she had been sent to collect but it wasn’t there, this was the second time tonight and she couldn’t go back empty handed so she opened his mouth, grabbed hold of a tooth, and pulled with all her might
I tried another variation of the prompt I’ve used in the last two days and I think I’ve reached the limit of creativity with it now. I’ll try some new portraits with a different photographer over the coming weeks:
a loathsome young man, wearing a pointed wizards hat with complex stars and crescent moon designs, detailed close-up, in sophisticated black and blue robes, intricate details, dark colours, porcelain doll, complex makeup, grey, white and blue puffs of smoke, studio lighting and volumetric lighting Photo taken by Chin Leong Teo, taken with a Canon EOS R with a Canon RF 35mm F1.8 MACRO IS STM lens at 1/200 sec, f/2.8 and ISO200, Award-winning photography style, 4k –v 5.1
Here’s an old Colonel, flexing his bicep for a lady;
You can type whatever you want into Midjourney and you’ll get some nice images. For inastance, this morning I typed; I slept the deepest sleep and dreamed a thousand dreams because that’s the first thing my half asleep mind thought of, this was the result:
The more specific you are with both description and language, the more detail you’ll get in your image;
Our case was very dismal indeed, we could all see plainly that there was no escape, in this distress, each man with a heavy heart, we marched forward towards the ocean, hoping for a breach in the wall of bodies, all but surrounded on all sides by monstrous savages bearing axes and hammers and spears and long bows
In the next prompt, I mention horses and carriages. Although none appear, it does give me the correct time period for that mode of transport:
A young man and pretty young lady sit together, in an agreeable manner, they engage in conversation, on a wet night in the rainy season, they wear threadbare clothes and sit closely under a single umbrella, on a small bench, in a park, near a well-lit street, filled with horses and carriages
I didn’t know what to expect from the next one but was pleasantly surprised;
I stood on the brow of the hill, pensive and sad, looking for the last time on my home, my castle, my country seat and my enclosure in the woods, I was as fearful of leaving as of the devil himself, but I steeled myself to go, lest I should meet more of those loathsome creatures, lurking in the shadows
The next one is a landscape from award winning photographer, Oleg Ershov, known for landscapes;
An icy mountainous landscape, the skies filled with every type of bird, cloudy skies with volumetric light, taken by Oleg Ershov taken with a Canon EOS 90D Canon EF-S 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM
My favourite so far is a variation of the prompt I used yesterday, though today it is for a young man;
a loathsome young man, wearing a frightful Animal Skull with headdress, detailed close-up, in sophisticated black clothing, intricate details, dark colours, porcelain doll, complex makeup, grey black and blue puffs of smoke, studio lighting and volumetric lighting Photo taken by Chin Leong Teo, taken with a Canon EOS R with a Canon RF 35mm F1.8 MACRO IS STM lens at 1/200 sec, f/2.8 and ISO200, Award-winning photography style, 4k –v 5.1
I really like these
Here’s a dude with a weird sword standing on a hill;
I’ve been using older more formal language, which is normally reserved for storytelling, on Midjourney today. I’m very pleased with the results. Now that I’ve reached a point where the prompts which I use are entirely my own, I will be posting them along with the images.
There will be an abundance of these type of images, as I find Oriental women have the most beautiful faces:
a delicate young lady, wearing a bejewelled Chinese headdress, detailed close-up, in sophisticated white clothing, intricate details, pastel colours, porcelain doll, complex makeup, pink and blue puffs of smoke, studio lighting and volumetric lighting Photo taken by Chin Leong Teo, taken with a Canon EOS R with a Canon RF 35mm F1.8 MACRO IS STM lens at 1/200 sec, f/2.8 and ISO200, Award-winning photography style, 4k –v 5.1
Now for something completely different:
A man with a sword in his hand and a bow and arrow at his back and a gun in his belt, marching to the place where the creatures are, with a mind to get some fuller intelligence of them, the blood runs chill in their very veins at the spectacle confronting them
More thoughtful;
I took up my Bible, and opening it to read, the first words presented to me were, “wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and He shall strengthen thy heart: wait I say on the Lord”. It is impossible to express the comfort this gave me.
Some bright and happy images;
Whimsical, cheerful, delighted, ecstatic, amusing by virtue of her foolish behaviour, she stands hands on hips, laughing at the world.
I really like these so you can have two;
And some time of the end imagery;
When he opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour
I am into my fifth week of image making now and the novelty of it has worn off to some degree. I am beginning to think properly about the type of image I want, rather than typing the first thing that comes into my head.
This morning I spent some time finding a photographer, a camera and a lens that I thought would give me an image I would like. I chose Chin Leong Teo, a multi-award-winning Singaporean photographer. I wrote this prompt; Beautiful woman, detailed close-up, in white, intricate details, pastel colours, porcelain doll, extraordinary makeup, pink and blue clouds of smoke, studio lighting and volumetric lighting Photo taken by Chin Leong Teo, taken with a Canon EOS R with a Canon RF 35mm F1.8 MACRO IS STM lens at 1/200 sec, f/2.8 and ISO200, Award-winning photography style, 4k –v 5.1 Which brought some lovely images:
No sooner had I downloaded them, than I saw this:
I have nothing against others using my, or anyone else’s prompts to learn how to write your own but that’s not what this is. I wouldn’t be naming myself “kreative” if I had to resort to this.
Chin Leong Teo is know for his wildlife photography and snakes in particular, I used this prompt; A King Cobra, curled and ready to strike, taken by Chin Leong Teo, taken with a Canon EOS R with a Canon RF 35mm F1.8 MACRO IS STM lens at 1/200 sec, f/2.8 and ISO200, Award-winning photography style, 4k –v 5.1
Then I altered the first prompt; Beautiful woman, detailed close-up, dressed in black, mania and depression, waves of emotion, intricate details, dark colours, porcelain doll, extraordinary makeup, grey and black clouds of smoke, studio lighting and volumetric lighting Photo taken by Chin Leong Teo, taken with a Canon EOS R with a Canon RF 35mm F1.8 MACRO IS STM lens at 1/200 sec, f/2.8 and ISO200, Award-winning photography style, 4k –v 5.1
The models are oriental because of the photographer. If I wanted to change this I would simply describe the model.
Although the description of the subject is important, it is not the only factor that needs to be considered, the wording itself is taken into consideration. This is a prompt using a formal and older way of speaking; An innumerable number of fowls of many sorts, confused, screaming and crying, on a very steep hill, surrounded by smaller hills, a man stands armed with a pistol and a horn of powder, ready to shoot, in the style of Leonardo Da Vinci
Because I used language from a different era, the art reflects this.
I used this prompt; The origin of the Devil, his rebellion against God, his enmity to man, setting himself up in the dark parts of the world to be worshiped, –v 5.1 and got this:
Because the language used is serious, the images reflect that too.
If I’d used modern language, I’d have got the red horned beast thing, the wording is important.
I’m going to start looking into chatgpt soon and that should make for some interesting reading. Until then, here’s some hot air balloons:
I was properly pleased with the image of Moses receiving the Commandments so I tried putting direct quotes from the Bible into Midjourney. The results are awesome:
And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven
Then I tried And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged
That brought some dark images. Then; And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, Thrust in thy sickle, and reap: for the time is come for thee to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe
That’s enough End Times imagery, The next is: The view of a lake, under a full moon at late evening, mist is rising from the lake, swans glide by gracefully, with their reflections visible in the water, in the style of Vincent Van Gogh –v 5.1
These are really pretty and the prompt is one that I partially used to make an image of Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata. That one came out okay but I thought it could be improved.
I have an interest in the Bible and have recently seen people making images of Biblical scenes on MidJourney and thought I would make one. I used this prompt; Moses the prophet receiving the commandments on Mount Sinai, cloudy background background with volumetric light, –v 5.1
This was one of the images from that prompt. Immediately afterwards I saw someone had used the same prompt but with Moses playing an electric guitar. It made me laugh and was quite a spectacular image.
I made an image of the Tree of Life; The tree of life being guarded by cherubim at the east of the garden of Eden, create a complex yet beautiful scene high detail, ultra hd
And then I indulged myself for a while:
A painting of King Charles 1 in the style of The Starry Night by Van Gogh. I followed it with one of Charles III:
This is Beethoven in the style of Van Gogh, playing the Moonlight Sonata:
I wondered how Da Vinci would have painted Van Gogh:
And how Michelangelo would have painted Da Vinci:
I then made some animal images: Close up of a red admiral butterfly perched on a white rose, in an English garden next to a stream, taken with a Nikon D850 and a 70mm lens
As I’ve posted a couple of images of England’s Leaders, I feel I ought to do the same for the Americans, so here’s one of their President:
I thought I’d make some images that relate to England today. I live in England and have spend most of my life here, though I am of Irish descent. I think it’s a shame that the English are spoken of so badly because of the Empire, it’s not as though the average person had any say in that, or any other issue for that matter.
The English have given the world a great deal and here’s a little celebration:
John Lennon of course, member of the Beatles.
Queen Elizabeth 1
One of the most famous bridges in the world; Tower Bridge. There is a story that Robert P McCulloch thought he was buying this, rather than London Bridge, though this has always been denied.
The most famous Playwright of all time is William Shakespeare, who still has plays performed to this day.
The Battle of Waterloo affected not just England but the whole of Europe, where Field Marshall the Duke of Wellington put an end to Napoleon Bonaparte’s Reign as Emperor of the French.
And of course the 1588 defeat of the Spanish Armada which saved both England and the Netherlands from the Spanish Empire.
The tiny country of England has had more influence on the modern world than any other. In almost every country you can find someone who speaks English. The whole world runs on time set in Greenwich, England and the whole world communicates on a system called the World Wide Web, invented by the Englishman Tim Berners-Lee.
I think sometimes we should just say thank you. Thank you England.
Here’s a couple of Ninja’s drinking Afternoon Tea:
